Katy Song opening Opening Guitar Riff Tuning: Db-Ab-Db-F-Bb-Eb (or just CGCEAD with capo on 1, with fret numbers relative to capoed fret) numbers below tab lines indicate beat ******ONE******* Eb--------|| ----------------|----------------| Bb--3/2---|| ----------2---0-|----------3/2---| F ------0-||.----------------|----0-----0---0-| Db--------||.----0---0---0---|--5-----5-------| Ab--------|| --0---0---0---0-|----------------| Db--------|| 0---------------|5-----5---------| - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - ******TWO******* (4x) Eb-|----------------|---------------- || Bb-|----------2---0-|----------3/2--- || F -|----------------|----0-----0---0-.|| Db-|----0-----0-----|--5-----5-------.|| Ab-|--0-----0----(0)|---------------- || Db-|0-----0-----0---|5-----5--------- || 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - I could put a whole bunch of separate repeat bars, but it really wouldn't go with the song's phrasing so I labeled the slight variation in the riff with ***ONE*** and ***TWO***. ONE and TWO often switch places upon repeat, like so: 1st time 2nd time 3rd time 4th time -------- -------- -------- -------- ONE, TWO TWO, ONE ONE, TWO ONE, TWO The vocals come in on the 4th time, and as there is a break in the pattern on the 4th time, it starts getting really hard to hear what exactly the guitar is doing. The riff repeats a while longer though (with a little more variation) so I would recommend playing ONE and TWO in either order, in any pattern you like; chances are it will still sound accurate. tabbed by Luke: lukemartinchandler@hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "luke asp" Subject: Re: katy song chords Date: den 20 april 2001 23:49 Capo on 3rd fret Katy Song C F some escape some door to open C F this path seems the blackest but i C guess it's the soonest F but there in the clearing i know you'll be wearing C your young aching smile and F G waving your hand G F can't go with my heart when i D- can't feel what's in it i Bb F thought you'd come over F but for some reason you didn't Am G F glass on the pavement under my shoe C G C without you is all my life amounts to --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Tanya Manning Subject: Katy Song chords Date: Sat, 23 Jan 1999 21:23:45 -0800 hey there, i took a look at your chords for the song and i got a bit confused by your tuning so i came up with a version of my own. i think it sounds okay. i did the chords but i haven't had the chance to tab the solos.
